“From the King’s Castle to the Queen’s Heart” – our hiking tour near Bucharest includes historical visits, cultural experiences and a great +3,000m ascension on Bucegi Mountains. We are linking two historical castles – Peles (Sinaia) and Bran – across the most popular mountain in Romania – Bucegi. This experience is dedicated to experience hikers, but it can be customized for average mountain lovers.

DETAILED ITINERARY:
DAY 1 : Individual arrival
Get together and visit BUCHAREST – the capital of Romania
Our first day is in Bucharest. Depending your arrival we will organize a “get together” meeting in a nice restaurant for short presentations. Then we will have a walking tour of the main city of Romania, before a welcome dinner in a nice restaurant. Time to know each other, to plan our next days and to review the program.
Overnight in Bucharest.

DAY 2: Bucharest to Sinaia (2 hours drive)
Our today plan is to reach the starting point of our trip – Sinaia.
After breakfast we will be transferred by car or by train to Sinaia – the most appreciated winter resort and the starting point for our hiking adventure. In Sinaia we will visit the “King’s castle” – Peles. Is the only luxurious castle in Romania, the summer residence of the Romanian Royal Family. Time to know the Romanian history, to plan the next two days hiking route and to spend the evening in a nice cozy hotel.

DAY 3: from Sinaia to Pestera (6/10 hours hike)
After breakfast we will start our first day of hiking. We will start from Sinaia (~700m altitude and we will arrive at 2,300m altitude). From Sinaia we have a steep 1,000m climbing from the Royal Sheepfold up to 2,000m altitude on Bucegi Platform. From here the route is not difficult, with a constant uphill to 2,300m altitude, where we will reach Caraiman Cross – a monument dedicated to the WWI heroes, from where the entire Prahova Valley can be admired. We will continue our route and visit Babele Chalet, meeting few natural monuments – the Romanian Sphinx and “the grannies” – rocks sculpted by water and wind along the time.
In the afternoon we will descend to Pestera resort (1,400m altitude) for accommodation and dinner.

DAY 4: from Sinaia to Bran (10/12 hours hike)
After breakfast we will continue our route across Bucegi Mountains. Today we will reach the highest point – Omu Peak (2,504m altitude). It is a good point for admiring the view, have lunch and prepare the second part of the trip. In the afternoon – a long descent to Bran village, the end of our trip.
We are ending our route in Bran, accommodating a local guesthouse with good cuisine.

DAY 5: visit Bran and Brasov
After two days of long hiking it is time for cultural and historical visits. We will start with Bran Castle – a historic place, also known as “Dracula Castle”. It is time to verify all the stories around the castle and find which one is true and which one is fictional.
Before lunch we will leave Bran for visiting another important city in Romania – Brasov. A former fortified city during the middle age, Brasov is now one of the most visited cities in Romania. We will stroll the small streets, find the stories of the local communities and have lunch in the historical area.
After lunch we have time for another hike in the most visited reserve of the city: Tampa Mountain. From above we have a great view over the historical city center.
In the evening we will come back in the city for the farewell dinner.

DAY 6: return to Bucharest and farewell
Depending your flight arrangements we will leave the beautiful city of Brasov for returning to the airport.
